The top is approximately 3km wide, and its highest point, Maclears Beacon, rises to 1085m above sea level. Over the centuries it has become one of South Africa’s most famous landmarks. The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain are home to a number of plants and animals. Guided walks can be arranged for ardent hikers – hundreds of paths await you on our spectacular mountain. For the less energetic don’t miss a trip on the cable car and enjoy the essence of Cape Town.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
Kirstenbosch Gardens on a partly cloudy day with walkwayKirstenbosch Botanical Gardens is the only indigenous plant garden in the world. The Gardens span 528 hectares over the southern buttresses of Table Mountain. 60 hectares are cultivated to display the incredible diversity of the Cape Floral region. During the summer months, keep an eye out for the Sunday afternoon open air concerts, hosting a number of local and international performers.

Shopping & Keeping Fit

Also close by is the Plattekloof Planet Fitness gym. Then, just 10 minutes away, you have Tygervalley Shopping Centre for the more avid shopper.

Game parks & Wildlife

There are various sanctuaries and game farms hosting a variety of animal species from different birds and butterflies, all the way to Africa’s Big Five. If you enjoy observing animals in their natural habitat, we can book you a day tour to one of the Game Farms in the area as close as two hours away.
